The Romance / Magic is Gone in Our Marriage
On a daily basis, I am almost inundated with statements like “I don’t feel there is any more love between us.”, “It’s just too late for us to rekindle the romance.”, or “I just think the magic is gone in our marriage.”.
To the above mentioned, I would have to say that if you are waiting for some magical feeling to mystically move you toward your spouse and visa versa, then you may need to arm yourself with the patience of Job in that you’ll probably be waiting for quite a while. I only say this because if you are waiting for the magic or the romance to come back on its own without any effort of your own, then you are sadly mistaken.
The truth is, if there is any magic wand for your marriage, you hold it in your hand on a day to day basis. That’s right, you already have it within your grasp, but, one thing is for sure, if you never learn how to use it, those feelings of romance and love that you are waiting for will never come back.
The magic wand that I am speaking of is the day to day choice that you must make to uphold your marriage vows regardless of what you feel you are getting out of the relationship. The magic wand is the ability that you possess to choose to sacrificially love your spouse when things are not looking better, but are at their worst. The magic wand (not that I believe in magic) that you have is the ability to realize that love is not a feeling, but actually a choice that you must make if you want your marriage to prosper.
