If you are an avid reader of our newsletters, then you understand that I encourage couples to fight for their marriage using unconditional love. Why? Here are a couples of reasons:
1. It allows you to fight for your marriage without fighting with one another.
2. It helps to tie “heart strings” between the husband and the wife.
When couples love each other unconditionally, they are in a sense tying what I have already termed to be “heart strings” between themselves. When this occurs, both husband and wife feel close and connected to one another.
Now, here is the beauty behind this. Every marriage faces tension. In fact, I often like to say that tension and conflict are not curse words. In reality, just as it is tension that provides the ability for a stringed instrument to make beautiful music, tension can help couples to bond closer together. Tension is something that every marriage must deal with. The question is, however, will tension be a stepping stone to a deeper relationship with one another or will it be a stumbling block?
The wonderful thing about taking the time to tie heart strings between the husband and the wife during the peaceful times is this. When conflict arises, the husband and the wife are faced with a choice. To start using anger, bitterness, and negativity to get their way, they will have to start breaking some of those heart strings. The wise couple, however, understands breaking the peace also means breaking those heart strings.
