How to Change My Husband
Question:
“No matter what I tell my husband he never listens. He rarely spends time with the kids and he always thinks of himself. Is there anything I can do or tell him that might help our marriage?”
Answer:
Mark it down! Couples having marital issues make really bad marriage counselors of one another.
By the time most couples realize that they are in trouble, there is a great amount of distrust between the two. Not only that, but much of what the other person says or does is often filtered through wounded feelings, bad memories, and fear. In fact, just about the only things that the other person will respond to in this case are true and legitimate change or advice from another credible source.
I often say that it hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of world history for couples to try to fix each other, and you are not going to be the first to make it work. Your spouse already thinks you are the problem, so just about everything you say, no matter how right it is, is tainted in the mind of your marriage partner. My advice. Get some outside help with someone that will automatically have credibility and authority in the sight of your husband or wife.
