Can faith in God help your marriage? I believe so. However, for most it will have to involve much more than simply hoping that God will perform a miracle.
Now, I do believe in miracles, and I believe God is able to perform miracles in your marriage. But just as many of the miracles in the Bible required an act of faith or obedience before the miracle was performed, your marriage may require the same.
Though faith may be described in a number of ways, one definition is as follows:
“Faith is grabbing a hold of the rope of Scripture so that you may climb out of the pit that you have found yourself in.”
I whole-heartedly believe that God is able to bless your marriage. But, as I mentioned before, I also believe that God typically requires acts of faith and obedience from us before He can work. In fact, this is why I put together a 2-Step process for couples in need. The 2-Step process provides couples with some tangible, yet scriptural ropes to cling to in order to put themselves into what I call a blessable position.
There are some who will read this article that have been praying for their marriage for years, yet they will not take the steps required to put their marriage in that blessable position. In other words, if you are a wife that continually criticizes your husband and then goes on to ask God to change your husband, you are mistaken to think that God will obligate Himself to answer your prayers (I John 3:22). In fact, even though you feel that you have been waiting on God for years to change your man, it could very well be that God has been waiting on you.
It is possible that among my readers there is a man that feels that his wife is cold, tense, and frigid in her responses toward him. However, though you have prayed for years and thought, at times, that God gave you the wrong woman, it could be that you simply have had the wrong approach to loving and caring for your wife. It could be that you have never fully taken hold of the correct ropes that God has provided in His Word to lead your marriage out of its current pit.
